    • During the planning stages for the new Beta version of the site, one of our priorities was to optimize the site for search engines (SEO) as well as make the site more user friendly from a URL perspective. The new design supports a multitude of search-friendly parameters in a variety of combinations, making it easier and quicker for members to locate items based on parameters they specify in the address bar. See the list below for details on which parameters can be used and their corresponding...

    • Well it took longer than I anticipated (as usual), but I committed to getting something out to you guys by the end of this weekend so it's up. I still have more work to do, features to add, etc, but if I wait until EVERYTHING is ready, then you'll probably never see it. I've started the mad rush of image uploading fun, by uploading a few sample photos myself. This should give you an idea of what the image section looks like when populated as well as letting you practice opening, viewing...

    • Despite several attempts via email to notify everyone that the new site was up and ready for use, I only managed to leave everyone more confused than ever . Hopefully, my last email was clear enough and members will begin signing in any day now.The new site has undergone some pretty severe transformations from its predecessor, so feel free to ask if any section is unclear. I plan to work up a fair amount of help documentation in the future that should assist new members with any questions they...

    • Well, the winds of change are blowing and with them come new possibilities. I don't post much here, so as you probably already guessed, this post is"nerdy" in nature. However, it is a short post so don't click away just yet. You might have noticed that I haven't been making a whole lot of changes to the site over the last few months. There are features that are lacking, some persistent bugs that keep cropping up, and a whole host of items that I personally want to do away with permanently. The...

    • Well the Verizon tech came out today to look at the lines. After a bit of troubleshooting, it appears that we might actually be back in business. All the extra noise on the phone line is now gone completely, and we are around 40% bandwidth utilization for good connectivity. So hopefully things should be back to normal now for all those who have been having issues getting to the site.I can't wait for the day when I get enough PHP under my belt to convert all the current sites to a Unix/Linux...

    • In case outsiders or new members want to know what's required to utilize this site's features, I have posted Site Requirements on the home page (for the time being). Browser support is limited to Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.5 and Netscape 8 or their respective higher versions. Preliminary testing with Opera 9 appears to function in all areas except the Rich Text Editor portion. If you are using Opera, I suggest you deselect the RTE option under your account settings. I stress again that...

    • With the most recent updates to the site, the bulk of the features I originally planned to implement have now been fully integrated into the site. The reason you are probably seeing more of my"human" side , is that I have actually reached a point where I am semi-satisfied, in terms of site layout and performance. Did you all ever think this was possible? But a lot of the fun for me is the development side so I am putting out the request, once again, for recommendations and suggestions for new...

    • If you've been following the recent progress of the site, you may have noticed a new feature that is now available after clicking on the"view blogs by..." button. I am slowly adding in more ways to make searching for blogs both easy and fun. The latest of these features is known as a"tag cloud" in Internet-speak. A tag cloud is essentially a collection of words or phrases that are specifically mentioned within, or related to, a blog entry. The tags are listed in alphabetical order and the...
