    New Church

Posted by Heatherdawn on Monday, April 16, 2007 @ 07:09 AM
I did a little research and tried out a new church yesterday. I don't know all its core values yet, but it's a non-denominational church and it had a lot of good points to it. People were friendly without being too "in your face" and they had a pretty good preacher that was able to keep my attention. No one said anything that made me step back and say, "Whoa!" and they had a very contemporary band (as a guest) playing, so they're not musically stuffy. They didn't have communion (the only negative I've found), but at least I don't think they believe in speaking in tongues (something that Church of God that I took the folks to when they were here believed in). Quite frankly, that's something that scares me. No one was running up and down the aisles, shouting Amen - not that that's altogether bad, it's just not my style and a little distracting. Kadie had a good time in Sunday school. She made a beeline for the other kids playing with the toys when we came in and I practically had to drag her back to get a hug goodbye and put her nametag on her. It's an easy 10-minute drive from the house through some cow country, so it was a nice relaxing drive to get there (didn't have to deal with going through town). All in all, it was a good experience. Kadie's looking forward to going back next week so I need to get some more information about them pretty quickly.

Getting information should be right down your alley.

Hi Heatherdawn, You and I would fit in at the same church.  It takes a while to find a church that "feels" right.  Would be awesome to have one so close. Good Luck, Melody
