    • Kadie was complaining that her legs hurt yesterday evening and she had a very restless night where I spent a good portion of it rubbing her legs and back. I figured it was just growing pains as she has suffered from those before. This morning, when we woke her up to get ready for bed, she told me that her tummy hurt and, as I carried her into our room where we have her clothes laid out, I noticed that she felt rather warm. So, I took her temperature: 100.8. Now, growth causes inflammation...

    • Even Jeff and I, who religiously avoid all news media, have heard of the recent swine flu"pandemic." For those of you that would like a dose of reality and common sense (two things not available through said media), please read the following report:Critical Alert: The Swine Flu Pandemic â€" Fact or Fiction? By Dr. MercolaAmerican health officials declared a public health emergency as cases of swine flu were confirmed in the U.S. Health officials across the world fear this could be the leading...

    • Well, I got my new car. My logical side is kicking my rear for not going more economical (read: another hybrid), but I try to keep telling myself that, if I really wanted to save money, I'd buy a base model Yaris w/ no extras. It's a Glacier Blue Honda CR-V - it's small-ish but has a lot more cargo space (in my Camry, I couldn't visit WalMart, BJs, and the grocery store all at once - so, technically, I'm saving on fuel costs by not having to make two trips). It gets pretty decent mileage...

    • I'm just putting this out there...Jeff had so much fun at his last adventure, that he has already signed us up for the next event to be held July 9-11. Unfortunately, Jeff will be sans a co-pilot...so are there any volunteers to fill the seat? (There's extra room in the back, too, if there is more than one applicant.)I realize July temperatures for our area are usually enough to put most people off, but the event is about 2 hours north and in a well-forested area (so it will be a little cooler...

    • I woke up this morning with red, itchy eyes...I should have stayed in bed. On the way home from work, traffic backed up suddenly and everyone came to a screeching halt...everyone except the guy behind me who, because of his proximity and/or speed, not only slammed into me, but caused me to slam into the car in front of me (I had stopped several feet away). Both of the other cars looked like they got scratched. My car looks like an accordion (the GPS/CD unit was actually pushed out of my dash...

    • I've just been letting life get the best of me lately and, although I've been keeping up with reading the posts, I've just been putting off responding until I've had the"time." Speaking of which, if anyone has found that particular life necessity, let me know where I can pick some up.I had the flash of insight this morning that I now understand the whole Twitter thing. For those of you that don't know what Twitter is, it's a blog site that only allows someone to post something like 130 to 150...

    • I made the Dean's List for Fall 2008! Just had to toot my horn a little...The Physiological Psychology course I'm currently in is not turning out so good simply because the author of our text is a very poor writer that doesn't offer any supporting material to back up his data and/or arguments. He writes at a very high level and, apparently, just expects us to take his word for fact. He is also very obviously biased against creationism and repeatedly writes very in-your-face,"you're stupid if...

    • Life insurance questions:If we buy a policy for Kadie, what happens if the company we buy it from goes under before Kadie (or her benefactors) get a chance to use it? If we buy a policy in MD, does it go with her, no matter what state she moves to?

    • They are predicting a fairly large ice storm to hit our area sometime tomorrow and last about 24 hours. Hopefully, as in the past, their predictions will fall short, but we are preparing to stay home on Wednesday. This, after today, which hit the upper 40s. Really - is Old Man Winter losing it?

    • We had a very nice Christmas this year. Jeff and I got to sleep in until 7 when Kadie woke up. Her excited squeals while opening her stocking downstairs, accompanied by Jeff's desire to see it all, from beginning to end, got us up and started shortly thereafter. As in years prior, Kadie very diligently kept a nice pile of wrapping paper behind her as she ripped through the presents and stacked them around her. (Why she's so neat on Christmas morning when she lacks that desire the other 364 days...

    • I found an awesome site with lots of information on migraines. You'd think I'd know everything there was to know about them by now, but I'm constantly finding more stuff. For example, did you know that you can have a silent migraine? (Don't you wish they all were?) A few days ago, I woke up dizzy. The kind of dizzy where you feel you've been riding a merry-go-round for way too long. It's not an uncommon symptom for me. I can remember sitting in keyboarding class in 7th grade and grapsing the...

    • Quite a while ago, I switched to what I thought was a"better for us" product - real butter that was mixed with Canola oil to make it spreadable. Then, about 3 months ago, I read up on Canola oil and found that it's not all that it's cracked up to be, health-wise, so I stopped getting products that contained it. That left me in a quandary for a product that I could use on Jeff's morning toast. I wanted to use real butter, but I'm sure you all know how difficult it is to spread real butter and...

    • I sincerely believe that our house has developed a personality and, when Jeff left, it started behaving like his old cat, Bubba. But, instead of peeing in the middle of our bed to show it's displeasure at Jeff being gone, the computers took a dump on themselves and, then, so did our phone line. Of course, as soon as Jeff got back, our phone started working and he was able to get the computers back online and up and running in no time.Unfortunately, a whole week without the computer has left me...

    • Someone had the Christmas List open (they probably selected the edit feature and then didn't click publish again) which made it unviewable to everyone (except the person who had opened it and could see it in their Draft Items). With posts that are marked as Revise (modify), please be sure that you hit the publish button once you are done with your edits so that it shows back up for everyone to see. Thanks!

    • Not me this time... Doing our weekly errands at Walmart, we walked past the jewelry section and I asked Kadie if she wanted to get her ears pierced, thinking I'd get the normal wide-eyed,"Nooooo," response. Instead, I got a wholehearted,"Yes!" Surprised, I asked her several times if it was what she wanted to do and she was all for it. We called Daddy to let him know what was happening, picked out a pair of crystal flower earrings (she kept going for the cartilage piercings - single studs and...

    • I woke up yesterday morning with my left eye crusted shut, so I made an appointment to see the doctor. She kept ensuring me that it was viral pink eye rather than bacterial pink eye - as if that was a good thing. Personally, I'd prefer bacterial. With that version, I can get an antibiotic eye drop and, within 24 hours, be reasonably reassured that I'm not going to spread it to either Jeff or Kadie. With the viral kind, I have to wait 7 to 10 days for it to clear on its own - being highly...
