    Lost and Found

Posted by Heatherdawn on Friday, October 06, 2006 @ 08:00 AM
When picking names for your future pets, beware of just spouting off whatever comes to mind - your significant other just might like what you say. As of 8:00 last night, we are the proud new owners of a small, female maine coon. We've decided she'll be Lost. Whoever ends up with us next will be Found. (If we get a third, in deference to our favorite TV show, she might be Others.)

Kadie was in bed by the time the "cat lady" dropped Lost off (they deliver the cat to you - that's how they get their home inspection in), but she spent a good 1/2 hour with her this morning and did really well. Lost seems to be a very friendly and tolerant cat. While Kadie appeared to be very gentle with her, I was still expecting Lost to shy away from her, but she would lay down and let Kadie pet her and even rubbed up against Kadie several times for more lovin'. They look like they'll get along quite well.

We're hoping to go look at another 2 cats down in DC tomorrow. Both are at least part maine coon, though one doesn't have a lot of the physical characteristics (other than very hairy ears and feet). I'm told her personality more than makes up for it. Apparently, she not only fetches balls you throw for her, she throws them herself if you won't.

This morning was very wet and rainy. It's supposed to storm for the rest of today and most of tomorrow. Jeff was able to mow the lawn last night and he's hoping that it'll be the last time for the year.

This month is gonna be extra busy for us. Down to DC tomorrow for cats perusals. No daycare next Friday (so I might be working Monday - the holiday - to make up for it). The Friday after that, I have my deployment, so I'll be working until around 5 am Saturday morning. We invited some friends up for dinner one weekend this month (before we realized how busy we were). There's a b-day party coming up on one weekend (I'm not sure which yet). Jeff has an appointment to get all four of his wisdom teeth pulled on the 26th. On the 28th, I'm taking Kadie to the Baltimore Zoo for their Halloween bash. That's an amazing amount of activity for two homebodies.

I'm still popping pain killers for my tooth extraction. They removed the putty that filled the hole on Wednesday which alleviated the pain from the pressure, but now they've attached a wire between the tooth up in my gums and my braces and started cranking it down. They also replaced the wires and elastics on my other braces that same day so the rest of my teeth were sore. I just pray that Kadie has good teeth.

I'm glad that everything has been going well for everyone. Good wishes for future positive workings...love to all.
