    Movie Recommendations

Or not...it depends on who you are. I discussed this with Jeff this morning - whether or not I should recommend this movie to anyone - and I think we agreed that, if you're a diehard Nascar or Will Ferrell fan, Ricky Bobby would be a good (not great, necessarily, but good) film to see. If you're neither, don't bother going. Jeff likes Will Ferrell (he a little too "off" for me), but neither one of us knows much about Nascar except that there's a bunch of cars going really fast, 'round and 'round a lot, so I don't think we got as much out of it as those "in the know" would have. We actually spent a good portion of the movie feeling a bit uncomfortable. They had a lot of weird scenes that involved way too much invasion of personal space. Anyway...just thought I'd put my two cents in.

I hear the Snakes on a Plane flick is supposed to be really good, regardless of the title. I've heard some good reports on it from those of the female gender even. Don't know if Jeff and I'll be able to swing any more hooky time from work, so we may have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

There's a new one coming out with The Rock in it - Gridiron Gang. It looked like a good, pick-me-up, the-underdog-wins type of movie from the previews.

One on DVD - if you like Zombie movies - is Shawn of the Dead. It's kind of a Zombie spoof. Jeff's coworker suggested we see it; I had bypassed it when it came out because it looked so stupid, but that was part of the appeal it turns out. It's not as gory as most Zombie movies, but there are some scenes that would not make this a good flick for the kids - aside from all the times they use a cricket bat upside someone's head, of course.

Another interesting one (on DVD) was the Inside Man with Clive Owen, Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster. The premise is a bank robbery with a twist. It's a film with a deeper meaning to it.

V for Vendetta just came out the other week. We saw this one in the theater and thought it was pretty good. There's some violence, but I can't remember a lot of gore or bad language. It's a kind of fight for freedom type of movie set in the near future.

That's all I can remember right now. Unfortunately, we don't get to watch as many these days, apart from those starring Strawberry Shortcake, so I don't have a lot to share.
