    • In support of my latest project, building a Windows Media Server, I needed to find a DVD ripping utility that could decrypt but still keep the discs in their original format (i, e; no compression). There are several reasons why I chose this route for ripping:SATA hard drives are currently available in up to 1.5TB capacities at a price point of roughly ten cents per gigabyte. When this much space can be had for such a small investment, it's hard to justify the increased processing time, let...

    • For those of you who use Google's online mail, the Google folks are currently in the process of rolling out a great new theme feature. Although custom themes have been available in the past from various 3rd party vendors, Google's constant updates to Gmail's underlying structure resulted in frequent style-sheet breakages. • It looks like I'll soon be able to offer the option of streaming video files for those who may be interested. The only thing to keep in mind is that any videos uploaded would need to be copyright-free. I don't have any code in place yet to do this so it may be a few months before you see something. But at the moment this looks very feasible and should be a nice option for those of you with broadband connections.

    • In the spirit of continuing my knack for e-mail-related fiascoes, I finally managed to get the new content notifications working and set up to run this weekend. After checking to ensure that all the code was correct, I uploaded the script and set it to run on a weekly basis. Now who could have predicted that I would choose the one day and time of the year where the clock would officially hit the same hour twice in a single day, to send out the first mailings from the site? Everyone but me...
