    Todnem Land

Well, it was a good Friday.  Lots of work, and got it all done.  I returned the trailer in one piece, and managed not to take out any oncoming traffic...but it was a lot of work.  I took the kids to the creek again tonight, and they had a lot of fun.  I am trying to wear them out a bit, since bedtime is a real challenge.  Although, most nights, they are in bed by eight o'clock, lately, they have not been alseep until tennish...I want to go to bed before ten, especially since I have to get up between four and five to work out.  Returning a child to bed repeatedly, for two hours, gets old in about three and a half minutes.  So, I am letting them stay up a bit later tonight, and they are out swinging, and getting along really well so far, and hopefully tiring themselves out.

We are going to have breakfast with our friends, Jim and Cheryl in the morning.  Jim is "Grandpa"  to Brianna (one of them...she adopted two), and she has him mercilessly wrapped around her pinky finger.  I imagine that we will make a trip to the park, or the creek again tomorrow too...it is always good to have something to use for bribery, to gain cooperation.

I am not certain that the kids have noticed that Michael is missing.  I have been keeping them busy, but it has yet to come up.  Michael called and left a sending love and hugs message...also mentioning that Montana was a LOT bigger than he thought, and that they are not even close to their destination yet.  I could point out that I offered to get him driving directions and times, but he told me/bit my head off that he had it all handled...he expected to be there late last night, or early this morning...gotta laugh a little!

I spoke with Scott Dolquist, of Expeditionary Learning today.  He updated me on the job position, and let me know that since he had been doing so much traveling, he has yet to post the opening.  He is required to post the position as available, before filling the slot.  He brought it up, and I am still very hopeful...I just wish it would happen a bit faster!

Jeff, when I originally starting looking into Norway for Todnem information, it was approximately four blown up computers ago, and I no longer have the emails.  I have been trying to locate Kjetil Todnem, as we had conversed for quite some time...he is incredibly smart, and has a terrific sense of humor...it also helped that he conversed in English very well.   He got busy with his degree in quantum chemistry, and I with a new job, and life, and we lost track of each other.  He had done some research on his end, and was certain that we were not related genetically.  He told me that there is land (like a farm) that is called Todnem, and the old tradition was the whoever lived on the land, took the name of the land.  This real estate is outside of Bergen, Norway.  Kjetil went to the university there, and I have located several links, and email addresses, but they must be old, as I did not get a single response.  I was hoping that somehow, at some point, he would come across this website, and we would be back in contact.  I was told by a Baby Jogger coworker, (many of us are still good friends), that after I left the company, I had had a phone call.  With the information that they gave me, way after the fact, I understood that Kjetil had paid a visit to Seattle, and tried to contact me, but obviously I did not know this until it was too late, as the message did not get passed on.

Ok...the energizer monsters must be run down by now..I know that I am...gotta go swish them in the tub...or does the creek count as a bath???  Love to all!

You know, it occurs to me that anyone doing a TODNEM search would come across this web site, right?  Several years ago, I was conversing frequently with Kjetil Todnem, who lives in Norway.  His family comes from the Todnem land, so although we are not genetically related, we have the same last name.  I have lost track of him over the years, and recently tried to do a search for him, with no results.    He was really nice, VERY smart, really funny, and as I recall, expecting his first child with his wife, Ann...it would be nice to have an update on how his life is going in Norway.  Could he find this web page if he searched?
